We are excited to announce that Black Diamond Group has been honoured with three Awards of Distinction at the Modular Building Institute’s 2021 World of Modular annual convention.
Each year, the Modular Building Institute (MBI) recognizes excellence in modular construction, rewarding projects submitted by companies around the world at the MBI Awards of Distinction. Entries are judged on architectural excellence, technical innovation & sustainability, cost effectiveness, energy efficiency, and calendar days to complete.
In the fall of 2020, our MSS teams submitted a few of our own projects, and on Tuesday, March 9, we took home three awards!
First Place
PARC Family Meetup Centres – Relocatable, Special Application, under 10,000 sq. ft.
PARC Retirement Living Communities in British Columbia worked with Britco to organize five Bulldog Site Offices to act as safe family meetup pods. The Bulldogs were retrofitted with temporary walls with Plexiglas windows and HEPA filters, so residents could visit with family and friends safely in a healthy, well-ventilated environment. The original two-door design was leveraged, giving residents and guests their own separate entrances into the units.
Honourable Mentions
Ohio Valley Bank – Permanent, Retail, under 10,000 sq. ft.
The BOXX Modular US team assembled three units to construct a fully functional, turnkey banking facility, outfitted with both drive-thru and walk-up tellers and a vault. Ohio Valley Bank wanted a facility that mirrored traditional permanent, site-built commercial banks that could also be scalable for future growth.
Kidney Care Center – Permanent, Healthcare, under 10,000 sq. ft.
Kidney Care Center reached out to BOXX Modular to build a permanent modular healthcare center to provide lifesaving dialysis treatments to patients in the Lubbock, Texas area. The specialized purpose of this building required considerable attention to the HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical design, as well as design provisions for emergency water and back-up electrical power for all patient areas. While preparation on site was being completed, the BOXX Modular team worked hard to prepare the units, paying special attention to the specific client needs.
