On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Black Diamond team members from across Canada, the U.S. and Australia gathered virtually and in person to celebrate our high-performance team of the best and brightest minds at our annual employee recognition awards ceremony – the GEMs.
The GEMs, which stands for “Going the Extra Mile,” is a uniquely Black Diamond Group employee appreciation initiative that celebrates individuals for their ongoing contributions to our values-based culture, their teams and the overall success of the Company.
“At Black Diamond Group, we hold firm to the belief that our people are what set us apart,” says Trevor Haynes, Chairman & CEO. “The GEM Awards are a longstanding tradition at our Company and recognize those who exemplify the best of what it means to be a Black Diamond team member. The sheer volume of nominations we receive every year underscores what we already know – how incredible our teams are!”
Peer nominations for the awards, which recognize employees’ efforts across various categories, are open all year long, with a marquee awards ceremony taking place within the first quarter the following year. The categories include Creating A Better Way, HSE Excellence (Health, Safety and Environment), Team Spirit, Operational Excellence, Internal Customer Service Excellence, External Customer Service Excellence and The Max Patel Community Giving Award.
Additionally, each year we recognize and reward a Friend of Black Diamond, to commemorate a long-time business partner, friend, and steadfast supporter of the Company.
Long Service Recognition
In addition to celebrating our team members for Going the Extra Mile, each year we celebrate team members who have been part of the Black Diamond Group team for a considerate amount of time. This year, we recognized more than 40 individuals from across our locations who celebrated five, 10, 15 and 20-year tenures at Black Diamond.
“Each milestone reached by our long-serving employees reflects their unwavering dedication and long-term commitment to the Company, our mission and our values-based culture,” says Trevor Haynes, Chairman & CEO. “It’s a privilege to celebrate and acknowledge these individuals for their commitment and hard work year after year.”
