Through mentorship, storytelling and shared experiences, Youth Inspiration Day created space for Indigenous youth to connect, learn and be inspired.
Black Diamond was pleased to return as the presenting sponsor of the second annual Youth Inspiration Day in Calgary on April 17, 2026, and engage our team members to volunteer throughout the event.
Delivered in partnership with Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, the two-day experience brought together Indigenous youth from 16 First Nation and Métis communities across Western Canada. Through sport, storytelling, and shared experiences, participants engaged in a leadership-focused program designed to build confidence, encourage self‑belief, and strengthen community connections.
“At Black Diamond, community investment means supporting initiatives that create lasting impact,” said Trevor Haynes, Chairman & CEO. “Youth Inspiration Day reflects our commitment to youth, community, and sport - creating environments where young people can learn from one another and feel inspired about what’s ahead. Our team and volunteers reflect these values in action, and we are proud of the role they played in supporting Indigenous youth throughout this event.”
Sport as a Catalyst for Connection
The event began at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Jim Starlight Centre, where youth, community leaders, and partners came together to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. From the outset, the focus was on connection – bringing youth together across communities and encouraging them to learn from one another.
Programming blended inspiring stories from athletes and community leaders with hands-on sport experiences, including Traditional Games, basketball, curling, and sledge hockey. These activities gave youth opportunities to try new sports, build confidence, and experience the power of teamwork and mutual support.
The experience concluded with Truth Circles led by youth leaders and role models, offering space for reflection, open dialogue, and shared learning.
Showing Up for Youth and Community
Black Diamond volunteers supported the event throughout, helping deliver programming and connect directly with youth. Their involvement underscored the importance of showing up, building relationships, and investing time and energy where it matters most.
Through partnerships like Youth Inspiration Day, Black Diamond Group continues to support initiatives that strengthen communities, celebrate the role of sport, and help young people see what’s possible when they feel connected and supported.
