On June 21, Black Diamond Group joins Canada in recognizing National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day dedicated to recognizing and honouring the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. This day is an opportunity to reflect on the vital role that Indigenous communities have played and continue to play in shaping our society.
The Importance of National Indigenous Peoples Day
National Indigenous Peoples Day is a time to acknowledge the profound contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples to our shared history. It is a day to celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, languages, and heritage that enrich our country. This observance encourages us to deepen our understanding of Indigenous histories and cultures, fostering a greater appreciation and respect for the unique perspectives and knowledge that Indigenous communities bring.
Black Diamond Group’s 2024 Indigenous Artisan Market
Art holds profound significance in Canadian Indigenous culture for many reasons, as artisans turn to varying forms to express culture and identity, to preserve traditional knowledge and to educate and raise awareness. Black Diamond Group’s Indigenous Relations team was proud to partner with Aspen Properties to present an Indigenous Artisan Market at our Calgary Head Office, Millennium Tower on Tuesday, June 18. The Artisan Market featured work from more than 15 local Indigenous artists and was well-attended by fellow Millennium Tower tenants and Black Diamond team members.
