Black Diamond Group once again participated in the Gordie Howe CARES Pro-Am Hockey Tournament from May 24-26, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta. The Black Diamond Cutters laced up and hit the ice over weekend, proudly raising more than $120,000 in support Alzheimer’s research and education, all while paying tribute to the late, great Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe.
The weekend-long tournament raised an impressive grand total of more than $1.7 million toward the cause.
Gordie Howe's struggle against Alzheimer's disease serves as a poignant reminder that this debilitating illness can touch anyone. His impact transcends his legendary hockey career, motivating people to unite, offer mutual assistance, and push for advancements in Alzheimer's research and caregiving.
Why we support the tournament
Every five minutes, someone receives a new life-changing Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnosis. Family members and other loved ones often step in to care for patients as their conditions worsen, increasing the impact of the disease.
Black Diamond is proud to support and participate in this tournament, as it aligns with our community giving values, often centred around the positive power of sport.
Players for the Black Diamond Cutters this year included Trevor Haynes, Chairman & CEO, Mark Armstrong, Senior Sales Representative, WFS, Trey deGraaf, Junior Accountant, and Yvan Moquin, Senior VP, General Counsel, along with partners and stakeholders from our Black Diamond network.
