We are excited to announce that Black Diamond Group and our Vice President of Capital Markets, Acquisitions and Divestitures, Jason Zhang, have been nominated in two categories for the IR Magazine Awards – Canada 2023.
The IR Magazine Awards – Canada 2023 took place on Wednesday, April 5th in Toronto, Ontario. The prestigious event has been held annually since 1996 and aims to honour excellence in the investor relations profession across Canada. Over the years, tens of thousands of analysts and investors have voted, making it a true industry recognition event.
In the Awards by Research Category, which is determined through the input of hundreds of analysts and portfolio managers who deliberate over which companies provide the best IR service in Canada, Black Diamond Group was nominated for the Best Overall Investor Relations (Small Cap) Award, and Jason Zhang was nominated for the Best Investor Relations Officer (Small Cap) Award.
The Best Overall Investor Relations (Small Cap) Award category covers companies that have most impressed the investment community with their overall IR program, and the Best Investor Relations Officer category is for individual Investment Relations Officers (IROs) whose knowledge of their company and sector and ability to build relationships with investment community members and be transparent, accessible, and responsive sets them apart.

Jason has over 15 years of experience in finance, capital markets, corporate development, M&A, financial analysis, and strategic planning. He has been with Black Diamond for over six years and was recently appointed Vice President of Capital Markets, Acquisitions and Divestitures. His leadership style is of the highest standard and his engaging and humourous personality make him a joy to work with and a valued member of the team.

Being recognized on this scale is a significant achievement for any company, but to be recognized this year as we celebrate Black Diamond Group’s 20th year in business is especially meaningful.
Q&A with Jason Zhang
Jason, what does this nomination mean to you?
It’s an absolute honour to be nominated and to be included among some very impressive companies – but the credit really goes to the broader business itself. MSS, WFS and LodgeLink have all been performing very well over the last several years, and that has only been possible through the hard work and dedication of our colleagues.
Through your lens, what has it taken to elevate our IR marketing?
On the IR side, the team has been persistent (and consistent) in our messaging about the type of platform that is being built here at Black Diamond; a company that can show consistent, steady growth across a diversified rental platform, while also innovating to solve highly complex problems with new solutions that aren’t readily available (such as LodgeLink). Thanks to the exceptionally strong execution from our business units, the analyst and investment community is beginning to see the benefits of the strategies we put in place many years ago.
