In late March 2022, our United Way Committee co-chairs, Leona Lee, Marketing & Digital Specialist, and Krista Supervich, Events & Community Engagement Specialist, were nominated for the
United Way’s “Power of One” award.
According to the United Way, “This award recognizes a United Way volunteer who has exceeded expectations in creating greater awareness of United Way through their personal involvement and initiative in their workplace campaign.” Anybody who has experienced a United Way Fundraising Campaign under the guidance of Leona and Krista know that this nomination is well-deserved.
Over the last two campaign seasons, the United Way Committee has had to come up with creative ways to engage our Calgary employees and keep our virtual giving campaign exciting during a pandemic. The events pro and digital creative superstar that Krista and Leona, respectively, are, made this task a breeze. It is no surprise to the United Way Committee to see Krista and Leona nominated for such an award as the “Power of One” – or in this case, “Power of Two!”
“It is such an honour to be nominated for this award and it is really a testament to the hard work put in from the entire United Way Planning Committee, and we are honoured to represent them,” remarks Krista Supervich, co-chair and Events & Community Engagement Specialist. “It is great to see Black Diamond Group being recognized for giving back. Thank you to the Executive for empowering us to lead this committee – I look forward to all we will continue to accomplish.”
Leona Lee, co-chair and Marketing & Digital Specialist says, “We are overjoyed and humbled to be nominated for this award from the United Way community. We could not have had the success we did without a great team of talented planning committee members to organize the 2021 campaign together. Not even a pandemic can stop our creativity.” She adds, “We are so honoured to be able to represent Black Diamond Group and share our passion for the betterment of Community to the rest of Calgary. Thank you to my co-chair, Krista Supervich, for taking on this journey with me.”
Krista and Leona, along with other nominees in this category and nominees in eight other categories will be recognized and honoured at the 2021 Community Impact Awards on Thursday, April 28.
We encourage everyone to tune in to the virtual livestream on April 28 at 5:30 p.m. and cheer on our co-chairs from your homes! The link to register is
