CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2010) - Black Diamond Group Limited ("Black Diamond" or "the Company") (TSX:BDI), a leading provider of modular accommodation and energy services in North America, is pleased to announce it has secured a long-term rental agreement for an 800-person remote accommodation project planned to house workers at Suncor Energy's Firebag project in the oil sands region of Northern Alberta.
Fabrication for the project is underway with the goal of being ready for occupancy by spring 2011. The contract will feature newly manufactured sleeping quarters, recreation, fitness and dining facilities.
"There is evidence of a marked resurgence in the oil sands region of Northern Alberta and Black Diamond is well-positioned with large capacity in the area to support current and upcoming oil sands projects," said Black Diamond President and CEO, Trevor Haynes.
The capital expenditure for this project falls within the Company's announced $40 million of capex for 2011.
