Black Diamond has been a proud supporter of the United Way in Calgary for more than 10 years. In addition to running a week-long fundraising campaign in the fall, the company also participates in the Days of Caring. The program facilitates opportunities for teams of workplace volunteers to contribute a few hours of their time to help local charities with meaningful, hands-on projects.
This year, about 20 colleagues from the Calgary and Frontier offices volunteered with two Calgary organizations – the Children's Cottage Society and the Women in Need Society.
The Children's Cottage Society is a non-profit organization that provides a safe and comfortable place for children up to the age of eight to stay on a short-term basis when their families are in crisis. On two different days in May, Black Diamond volunteers helped with a variety of tasks, including meal prep, baking, and cleaning the backyard and play areas.
Additionally, Black Diamond volunteers helped on a third date sort clothing donations at the Women in Need Society – a thrift charity that provides basic needs to women and their families that are in poverty.
Black Diamond is proud to support these local charities. The company will be hosting its annual United Way Campaign in September. Within the last five years alone, Black Diamond has raised more than $142,000 for the United Way, and this year's goal is to surpass the $16,690 that was raised in 2018 during campaign week.
