Black Diamond Group Recognizes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day 2025
September 30, 2025
Honouring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30, Black Diamond Group team members across Canada recognized the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. This day honours Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities. It is a time to reflect on the lasting impacts of the residential school system and our collective responsibility in reconciliation.
Creating Space for Learning and Reflection
On September 29, our Canadian team members attended a meaningful learning session led by Lauren Remple, Founder and Principal Consultant at Seqouia Collaboration and Consulting and coordinated by our Indigenous Relations team. Lauren guided attendees through a conversation focused on the importance of honouring Survivors, their families, and communities, and considering how these truths shape our present and future. Participants gained a new understanding of reconciliation and were encouraged to reflect on their own role in this shared journey.
We thank Lauren for sharing her knowledge and insights, and we appreciate all who participated for their continued commitment to learning.
A Decade Since the TRC’s Calls to Action
2025 marks ten years since the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. While progress has been made, we recognize that meaningful reconciliation is ongoing and requires consistent effort.
Black Diamond Group remains committed to supporting the Calls to Action through education, partnerships, and long-term community engagement.
Call to Action #87
Through our partnership with Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, we are proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Indigenous Sports Heroes Education Experience, and a multi-year sponsor of Youth Inspiration Day. These programs use the power of sport to promote conversations about equity, inclusion, and reconciliation.
Call to Action #92
We continue to strengthen respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities. Through our four equity-based Indigenous partnerships, two majority-owned First Nations businesses, and several other agreements across Canada, we work together to support local initiatives and economic development in traditional territories.
Our Commitment Moving Forward
Reconciliation is not marked by a single day - it is a continuous journey of listening, learning, and action. At Black Diamond Group, we remain committed to walking this path in partnership with Indigenous communities, honouring the truths of the past, and working toward a more equitable future.
