Our Story Began in 2003

At Black Diamond Group, we believe a Company is a group of people working in concert, but that it is also an entity in its own right, ever growing and changing.

At the Company’s inception in 2003, a small group of local entrepreneurs with deep Alberta roots came together, to rent remote and temporary  accommodations in a time of robust oil and gas activity in the province. In 2005, BOXX Modular was introduced bringing modular solutions to a wide array of new clients and industries. After compounding growth year-over-year, the Company went public on the TSX in 2006 with the ticker BDI. In 2007, the Company further expanded its offering with a full spectrum of oilfield rentals to complement the existing businesses. In 2009, the Company expanded to the United States and in 2012, another meaningful step in the scaling of the remote and temporary accommodations business was taken, with the expansion into the Australian market.

Black Diamond Group’s entrepreneurial mindset is engrained in everything we do – and it’s this approach that has driven us forward since day one. For over 20 years, our Company has been providing differentiated solutions to our customers, renting and selling modular spaces and lodging and accommodations across Canada, United States and Australia.

For decades, we have focused on growing the business and building our Team to one of the best in the industry through meaningful acquisitions – such as Nortex, Australian Portable Buildings, Paragon, Britco and Vanguard to name just a few – coupled, with capital investment in organic fleet growth and a safety-conscious, values driven, high-performance culture.

Today, our BOXX Modular fleet has reached over 11,000 units and counting, and our Black Diamond Lodging & Accommodations fleet has over 9,500 rooms of capacity. We now serve a cross-section of diverse sectors including construction, infrastructure, resources, education, power, financial institutions, government & military, disaster relief. 

LodgeLink, Black Diamond Group’s newest venture, launched in 2017, is a rapidly scaling marketplace platform that leverages technology to deliver efficiency and cost control for complex workforce travel. This end-to-end crew travel management solution was built on our cumulative experience in remote and temporary housing, and an inherent understanding of the complexity and inefficiencies that exists across the full crew-travel cycle for companies. LodgeLink has since become an increasing part of our Black Diamond Group portfolio as we look to continue to grow and scale.
